Dixons Cherry Balsams came into being in the late 1800s as the invention of Henry Dixon, sweet maker extraordinaire, in Sheffield.
He used a mixture of herbal flavours and essences to produce a sweet that warms the heart, soothes the throat, eases a cough and opens airwaves. A favourite still today with many when the weather turns and the cold season starts. Even when you dont have a cold this is still a great old fashioned sweet!
Using just simple ingredients it is very natural and still made in the same old fashioned way as always over gas stoves in copper pans.
Ingredients: Sugar, glucose syrup, citric acid, flavourings, colours anthocyanins
